Decent call. Bit of detective crossed with some spookiness, and a decent sense of humour. Could pitch it as a Saturday early evening thing, or really lean into the body horror stuff and go much darker.

Don’t think there’s been any development on the Wicked + Divine tv series after the rights were bought, but I would so love to see that on screen.

I saw somewhere that Darron Aronofsky was involved in this but it was ages ago.

I think an adaptation of Gone-Away World could be fun but it’s more likely to come to light as a documentary charting the extravagant failure it was

I also don’t think Y Chromosome = male would sit right with current audiences

Yeah absolutely. Although I do think that some of the biggest untapped potential of the premise is that a disease that affects the Y chromosome is framed as “a disease that affects males”. It could be a interesting way in to showcase and discuss how very not binary biological sex actually is, and how not tethered to gender it is and how out of touch the current day mainstream English speaking world’s culture (also, no doubt elsewhere as well) is with that reality.

But the writers with the knowledge, skill and life experience required to actually handle that well are absolutely nowhere near being allowed by TV networks to work on anything with a budget or reach.
