Yeah absolutely. Although I do think that some of the biggest untapped potential of the premise is that a disease that affects the Y chromosome is framed as “a disease that affects males”. It could be a interesting way in to showcase and discuss how very not binary biological sex actually is, and how not tethered to gender it is and how out of touch the current day mainstream English speaking world’s culture (also, no doubt elsewhere as well) is with that reality.
But the writers with the knowledge, skill and life experience required to actually handle that well are absolutely nowhere near being allowed by TV networks to work on anything with a budget or reach.
