Loved the cross section one too
That cross section one is a throwback, fuck!
Did consider making a thread just about great cross sections
I’m going to use the covers from the editions I had
Still got this, absolutely incredible and genuinely not sure I’m ever going to be able to let my child have a go on it as it’ll get destroyed
Those big usborne books where there’s a hidden duck on each page
Oh, and this one, too:
Perfect
Maybe not childhood, but around the age of 10, I think
we had a teacher who would always read Jeremy James books
my sibling and their friend came up with a theme song
“Jeremy James James James James Jeremy James” were the lyrics
as someone whose name is James, I would get irked when they would sing this
Also had this. Was thinking about it the other day and I’m 90% sure there was a sentence in there along the lines of: “during puberty you may feel confused about whether you’re attracted to the opposite sex or not. Remember that these feelings pass so it’s best not to act on them.” Lol
these covers are fixed in my memory - something about them has hugely influenced me, no idea how but they definitely have. I love the depth of the black with those little dashes of bright primary colour

also I like drawing friendly skeletons
What a cover this is
If you had the same edition that I did (c.1990), I don’t think that sentence was in there, although given that the books were almost standard issue to schools, I imagine that Usborne would have had to be very careful given the existence of Section 28
