Anyone ever bought anything from Turtledove?
They’ve got a decent sale on atm and I’m looking at some bits for mini but there’s some nice dungas that I fancy. Just never had anything from them before so wondering about fit/quality etc. Thanks!

Nice. Need a new pair of trousers and these look good. Can I ask what the fabric is like? Want something heavy feeling that might last and keep my gams toasty.
I have a jumpsuit and a dress, oh and a T-shirt
Good quality and sized big - comfy and lovely
Thank you! I’m sold haha! Off I go to treat myself
Got my father in law muling over a Carhartt J140 active jacket from the states. Sells for £160 on the UK website. Got it from a US website, factory seconds (which apparently makes no difference) for just over £60. How could I not!
My wife got very exasperated when she found out I’d bought a third Carhartt jacket in as many months, but then she acknowledged than when we started going out I used to buy all my clothes from Tescos, and I think she’d rather deal with hypebeast me than Florence and Fred me.
US Carhartt is so good. I think the J140 jacket is still made in the USA, as opposed to the Carhartt WIP version that places like END sell which is over £200 and made in a factory in Tunisia.
If your FiL sends it I guess you can bypass the import tax right?
Have posted it here loads of times before, but bought my son one ages ago. Was so sad when he grew out of it. Quality was amazing - wish I’d just got one for myself.
Yes, I think it’s USA made though imported parts - all supply chain stuff is pretty nebulous tbh, I’m not sure you’re guaranteeing better quality than their stuff made in Nicaragua. Lots of purists complain that it’s not a true J140, it’s just the old name given to a newer, different (and inevitably worse) model, but people can really into the weeds on this stuff. I can see that the current Detroit jacket is very different from the old, highly sought-after J97 models for example, but the active jacket looks pretty damn identical to my eyes.
He’s bringing in person when he visits next week so no fees to worry about at all, was free shippping to get it to him in Florida. I’m nervous about the sizing though, could only get a large in the deal, which should be find according to online sizing guides, but I had to return the large chore coat I got from because it was so massive.
If it looks ridiculous though i can’t imagine it’ll be too hard to sell on…
Yeah, I’m sure there’s still plenty of unethical things going on but that ‘Made in USA’ label means they’re so easy to sell on eBay. I gave my sons one to my my nephew, but made my sister give it back once he’d grown out of it so I could resell it.
Have you seen that guy on Instagram who hangs out at DIY stores in the States asking tradespeople to sell him their (usually completely knackered) Carhartt coats?
Haha no but I can imagine. There’s a whole tag on the Carharrt subreddit of “OTB” (off the back) - people showing off jackets they persuaded people to sell them on the street. Must be baffling to be some old electrician who finds some zoomer offering $200 for your coat, but I guess why not, everyone goes home happy.
Bought some smart trousers yesterday as seems like people have reverted to smart clothes after the post pando years. Found some nice ones on sale, too big at the waste but right length and thought that’s what matters. Put them on today and they have no belt loops but these weird side fasteners.
I tried but the universe was against me. Just going to get some black Levi’s
realise this post is from a hundred years ago but i’m about a size 14 i think
I’ve been buying Levi’s from Vinted. £15-£25 and I can usually find something in good condition. I just wear 501 so I think there’s loads for that style
yeah we’re a similar build. keep shopping bb!
is this it? looks like theyve just moved it or something
it is! and it would appear it’s unisex sizes or something
my gosh, I don’t remember it being so spenny tho
you deserved it then and you deserve it now
Sorry for the tardy reply. The fabric is 100% cotton it’s pretty solid but no way as heavy as a canvas trouser like Carhartt or Dickies. Does that help? They are very well made but I am a little worried that they may shrink in the wash.
It kind of blows my mind someone would buy a denim jacket new. Worn in denim is the best.
I say this as a person who has skin in this game though. I currently have somewhere between 40 to 60 denim jackets spread over two antique booths and my pop up set up. My personal collection consists of a dark wash jacket (2013), 90’s medium wash, a black one with buffalo plaid blanket lining (90’s found this on ebay, like new!), a lined jacket that’s super soft and ripped up lovely. Got this from an estate of a old rocker dude. All Levis. A grey Gap jacket which feels cheaply made. A chore jacket and one I keep pins/buttons on as a display piece.
How does a denim jacket get worn in? You have to start somewhere.
Also, I think you’d be lucky to find a vintage Levi jacket for the same price. Not to mention, the last time I was in one of the bigger vintage stores here, half the Levi jackets I looked at were clearly fakes. Cba with dealing with that.
