boygenius - the single, the record ... the tour!!

It’s such a great song that’s really grown on me. Neck and neck with True Blue on the album imo

Not Strong Enough is one of the best things any of the three of them have done in my opinion, just a perfect song. The “always an angel” bit into Lucy’s solo bit is magnificent, just hits me in the perfect way

It is a perfect song, you’re right. The hook midway through the chorus is the bit that does me every time “Spinning out about things that haven’t happened” or “Half a mind that keeps the other second guessing” in the 2nd chorus.

But, yeah, I also can’t disagree with the “always an angel never a god” bit too. So good

Apparently Lucy was digging her heels in not to include this tune on the album as she didn’t think it was strong enough  , but then they added the “always an angel” bit and she caved in. What were you thinking, Lucy??

Riverwise Jr went to a pottery party last week and tried to recreate the cover of Stranger In The Alps in mug form

Didn’t realise Jay Som is playing bass for them

Writes better songs than all three of them imho

she gets some additional producing/engineering credits too so she’s well in the fold

Yeah they’re always bigging her solo stuff up in interviews :face_holding_back_tears:

I’m so ready for Jay Som’s world domination when boygenius fancy a rest

Does anyone here like Bachelor, the band Jay Som has with Palehound? In fact Palehound is very much in the boygenius/et al sort of thing.

CW addiction, suicidal ideation

I stumbled across this article which suggests that (a) Please Stay was written to Julien and (b) Graceland Too was written about an imagined future where she’s “no longer a danger to herself or others”. Favor was written by Julien about (someone) being talked down from suicide. These were the three solo songs they chose to sing on their tour :sob: :sob: just glad that she’s alright for now

Excellent! Ordered for the eldest:)

Not really the point re: Graceland Too, but staying up on MD chatting rubbish with Baker sounds like a lovely night.

When they played that in Halifax, everyone started to look around trying to see the moon but it was cloudy out.
