What bread do you have on the reg?
For me it’s either Gail’s dark sourdough, or crosta and mollica panne pugliese.
Both are relatively low on items in the ingredients list and both make for banging toast.

I like the aldi wholegrain bloomer. The Warburtons seeded also good.
Those who make their own bread and have it also welcome!
75p M&S standard thick white loaf. Mini won’t eat any bread other than plain white and this is the nicest of the bunch. I miss a seeded loaf but it’s not worth buying 2 as both end up going off before we finish them so I just eat the white loaf.
I have a breadmaker so generally make my own:
quite partial to a supermarket crusty white loaf too, thick sliced if poss
Usually get Warburton’s orange toastie and Hovis tasty wholemeal with the occasional sourdough loaf from the co-op
Wanky £4 wholemeal sourdough or Warburtons white thick toastie, nothing in between
Either Morrisons tiger bloomer or Tescos white bloomer. If neither are available then Warburtons white farmhouse at a push.
TV buys wanky sourdough loaf from the local bakers - pretty tasty but like a fiver a go
Me - coburg cob from Morrissons for 69p
Its expensive but I love a good rye half loaf. Bit of pickles or sauerkraut and vegan mayo, banging.
Get a loaf from forge in the veg box weekly (white sourdough) supplemented with freezer bread (one white one seedy) and the occasional bagel (preferably the oniony one)
Ooh I posted recently in a baking thread:
Does anyone have a recommendation for an inexpensive stand mixer? There is one in Argos for £25 but I think that price may be way too low
A white tin from the old fashioned bakers a few streets away.
Currently it’s a white loaf from the corner shop, they get their bread from a fancy baker in Brighton.
Normally make my own (50:50 white to brown/granary ratio). Bread machine obvs. Normally do this twice a week. Loaf only lasts a day
Otherwise “vectis malty” from the bakery or occasionally a sourdough loaf from Sainsbury’s
get a sourdough delivery once week from a local baker.
it’s my one little luxury. aside from all the other little luxuries.
I’ve not yet had any bread in 2024
Oh if I see this
I will normally buy it because it’s @rich-t’s bread of choice and he’s right about a lot of things
Amazing toast as you say, and also so good in a toasted sandwich maker.
My wife hates it. So it’s very much a treat loaf for me.
