I have been to Budapest in Feb and it was excellent. Was about 10 years ago so won’t be able to recommend much but the Szechenyi Baths is such a fun thing to do when it’s bastard cold. One of my favourite holiday memories.

Are Ruin Bars still a thing? They were great too.

I’m in the same boat to you, haven’t been for at least a decade, but have fond memories of it.

There are still ruin bars but as you might expect they’re a lot more geared to tourist crowds now, and sadly don’t seem to be like 50p a pint any more

I recommended it before on here and stand by it - go to a place called labarintus under the castle. Arrive with zero expectations and just go with the flow. Its a wierd way to kill an hour or so and one of the oddest tourist attractions I’ve ever been to.

If you’re absolutely minted (or if you’re on a Hungary Tourism board junket like I was) you can do some daft stuff at the Cold War Park, like get a sightseeing flight in a plane from 1949
