Budapest

What are the best things that you should do if you go there for an overnight visit, please?

Just walk along the Danube, tbh. Really beautiful city.

Spa baths. Szechenyi and Gellert are the biggest/most well-known ones, I also went to this one on the advice of a taxi driver, it was cheaper and less busy, would recommend https://en.lukacsfurdo.hu/

I’m a dry guy, is there any reason to go and look at these baths but fully-clothed at all?

Not really, you’re there for the bath mainly.

Maybe Budapest isn’t for you?

Well I’ve booked it now! Damn it! Will probably just stay in my hotel room in that case. Cheers though

went for a walk by the danube one night and went out to eat at comme chez soi after hearing some pretty wild reviews of it and it was still one of the most bizarre and amazing dining experiences i’ve had. they treat you like royalty. think we paid for 3 courses but they served about 7. as we were leaving the owner came outside and brought us some fancy chocolates to take home with us. about a decade ago now so could well have changed but was pretty noteworthy!

the tunnels underneath buda castle are also very cool for a walk if you like dracula and dark tunnels and skeletons and stuff.

All that stuff sounds a bit too spooky for me but I might try and be a BBB for once

House of Music was one of my favourite museums there

If you only have 24 hours or less I wouldn’t be too ambitious about what you can achieve but you can definitely do a couple of museums/sights, a nice walk along the river and a visit to one of the ruin pubs.

We playing Honved or something, what’s happening?

I made an impulsive decision to go abroad to watch Magdalena Bay on accounts of how I wasn’t a fan of them yet when they played shows in London

Magdalena Bay (a) fair play

Get the funicular up to the castle district and have a wander round. Great views up there, and you should never turn down the opportunity to take a funicular imo.

if you want traditional hungarian food this is the best restaurant in town and one of my favourite places in the world

all my other recommendations are mostly booze related unfortunately

Is this a new development? You were bathing regularly last time I checked

My regular baths in my home are what is known as “the exception that proves the rule” insofar as I am really wet when I’m in the bath at home but everywhere else in my life I strive to remain as dry as possible at all times.
