i’ve got this but i wouldn’t describe it as giving out particularly odd sounds

I don’t really have a delay or reverb set up, so thought something like that might do a job in a slightly stranger way, but I might just be being drawn in by the word “tape” which makes it sound cool.

i use it for both of those (but also have a TC Electronic Hall of Fame running at the same time) and it does give you some nice tape delay sounds

It seems super cheap too. Which I like.

I quite like my Joyo Analogue Delay. Bit basic in the actual delay stakes but you can overload it and make some crazy noises. Like a weird ticking feedback bomb, followed by an exploding feedback bomb. Great fun.

I used the digital version in a studio recently and it was great. The sound man was raving about it too, and did mean to buy it at the time. I really don’t understand the difference of course.

No one does. Probably. I had both a Behringer Analogue & Digital in my chain for a while. They definitely sounded different but it’d take a smarter man than me to explain how.

Assume one has a casio calculator watch inside, and the other a piece of string?

Spare me your technical mumbo-jumbo Dr Science!

Digital usually tries to accurately replicate the input sound in the echos and analogue wants to fuck with it a bit. Too reductive because it ignores modulation of the echoes but that’s the tl;dr

Tell you what, I’ve been very pleasantly surprised by the Mooer Grey Faze (germanium Fuzz Face clone). Probably the most versatile gain pedal I own.

That explains why analogue is the one I prefer. It’s not like my playing is worth replicating perfectly - it needs a bit of fucking with.

I used to be into my pedals but not since having kids. This thread has piqued my interest, might pick up some budget pedals. I’ve got that ibanez de7 reverb, though I don’t think I paid a lot for it, probably 15 years ago. Made me look at some of the other pedals I’ve got. Got a boss heavy metal as well, probably paid £40 for that. Crazy how the prices have changed.

Generally analogue delays sound darker than digital ones

Analog will be a degraded copy of the original that degrades more each repeat , digital can be perfect repeats unless it filters the repeats (or early ones that had low bit rates), digital can emulate analog pretty well though

So in conclusion one has a hologram inside, the other a mouse?

Anyone got any views on the Joyo D Seed?

Hey,

Have been investigating small guitar heads to try and use my cab during LOCKDOWN. Came across the Hotone range of nano amps that are about £50-£90 and get surprisingly good reviews, particularly if you put them through a decent cab. Also, headphone socket would be welcome by family.

Anyone got any views? Cheap-ass, or sweet-as?

My new Mooer Reecho arrived today. Love it. The tape delay sounds are lovely. I’ve had a Boss DD-3 for years but it’s nice to have different delays for different needs
