Digital usually tries to accurately replicate the input sound in the echos and analogue wants to fuck with it a bit. Too reductive because it ignores modulation of the echoes but that’s the tl;dr
Tell you what, I’ve been very pleasantly surprised by the Mooer Grey Faze (germanium Fuzz Face clone). Probably the most versatile gain pedal I own.
That explains why analogue is the one I prefer. It’s not like my playing is worth replicating perfectly - it needs a bit of fucking with.
I used to be into my pedals but not since having kids. This thread has piqued my interest, might pick up some budget pedals. I’ve got that ibanez de7 reverb, though I don’t think I paid a lot for it, probably 15 years ago. Made me look at some of the other pedals I’ve got. Got a boss heavy metal as well, probably paid £40 for that. Crazy how the prices have changed.
Generally analogue delays sound darker than digital ones
Analog will be a degraded copy of the original that degrades more each repeat , digital can be perfect repeats unless it filters the repeats (or early ones that had low bit rates), digital can emulate analog pretty well though
So in conclusion one has a hologram inside, the other a mouse?
Anyone got any views on the Joyo D Seed?
Hey,
Have been investigating small guitar heads to try and use my cab during LOCKDOWN. Came across the Hotone range of nano amps that are about £50-£90 and get surprisingly good reviews, particularly if you put them through a decent cab. Also, headphone socket would be welcome by family.
Anyone got any views? Cheap-ass, or sweet-as?
My new Mooer Reecho arrived today. Love it. The tape delay sounds are lovely. I’ve had a Boss DD-3 for years but it’s nice to have different delays for different needs
It doesn’t do the infinite feedback overloads that I love doing on my DD-3 and swooshing the Time knob around is less fun but can creative some beautiful sound beds
Was making an right old racket earlier trying to sound like MBV with budget pedals only. Got a sound I quite liked with Caline compressor and overdrive, a Boss Metal Zone 2 (not really budget) and a Joyo tremolo. Amazing how good some of these things sound.
This thing’s a bargain for £30
Launched at twice that price, I think someone put an accidental extra 0 on the end of an order into the UK.
really want a behringer vibrato
i’ve got malekko vibrato I have no use for, has a slightly dodgy power jack that probably isnt hard to fix, you can have it if you want
Oh mate that’s so kind of you, I’d definitely take it off your hands! No rush though I was going to wait until after lock down I’d be happy to pay for it too!
Got the Caline (I’m committed to them) Pegasus yesterday. Basically a £33 Klon clone. Bloody love that too.
About to press the button on a JHS delay but as ever distracted by the budget options. Any views on the £16 KMISE range.
I mean, that has to be total shit right?
Update, the £16 delay totally does the job needed. I have the Behringer Fuzz on the way now which everyone raves about.
Truly a golden age for budget rigs.
(That said, have also discovered my set up sounds best with no pedals, so that’s annoying)
