…they said. But there was no bus thread (according to a quick cursory search). So we, the passengers, say ‘let there be a bus thread’.
Been meaning to start this for a while, seeing as we now have threads for trains, bikes, drivists.
Coach chat encouraged.

So, yeah, shot my bolt in the car thread about it, but to summarise: electric buses are great.

Also, a few years back, I got a ticket for an overnight Sleeper Megabus from Glasgow to London. Actually got as far as being on the bus, if I recall correctly, but got hauled off it seconds before departure due to some kind of vehicle fault. Never seen it mentioned since.
Used to have loads of good information on buses in my past life as a transport planner.
But yeah, when done well they’re good.
Quite often take the bus round the London outer zones in preference to the tube. Enjoy getting a sense of my surroundings
£2 fares cap introduced in Lancaster
I’ll get the bus to Kendal!.. Is what I thought yesterday, but the bus took 1hr 40 and the drive took half an hour, and the bus didn’t run late enough to pick us up from the pictures, so…
I would like to see snappier busses in and around the Morecambe bay and South Lakes area
It’s a good way to travel around central London too in my experience. Top deck front row views!
Agree but I always seem to get stuck in traffic
my dad’s a coach driver. He picked up the Flaming Lips at Dublin Airport last year
#claimtofame (he had no idea who they were and he said they were quiet and slept most of the trip)
Once went to a bus conference in Rouen
They had lovely buses there.
I have thoughts about buses and there fucking useless planning when it comes to bus stop intervals but, I will save it for another day cause once I start I won’t be able to stop it angers me so much.
Generally great just don’t get stuck on one during a medical emergency.

Remember back before Google Maps and stop announcements on buses and it was a fucking nightmare working out where you had to get off?
Amazing how quickly this became a problem of the past.

Speaking of which there’s also
https://bustimes.org/ which takes a little more effort to get used to, but you can save a list or map of your locality (and ‘install’ as an app, as above) and then, from there, tap on stops to see upcoming bus service numbers, and from there tap through to see the route it takes. Just really quick to use to get the basic info you need.
Stripped of all the bloat. Beautiful.
Might as well mention
http://nextbuses.mobi/ too which is a bit of a one trick pony for listing the next buses due at a stop - sometimes useful when you’re at a stop and it should have a number code on it that you can put straight into this, rather than needing to know anything about the street name or stop name.
Obviously, Google Maps or the service operator will have this info, but they’re almost always overkill for just getting basic quick info.
edit: as per @hardworking’s disclaimer, I know perhaps most of you will know most of this, I’m just blathering for the potential benefit of anyone else.

Caught a national express coach from London Victoria a few weeks ago and it was the worst experience ever, or at least since the last time I caught a coach from London Victoria anyway.
Worst place in the entire world

Love to get into politics and have the attitude “everything is shite anyway, what’s the bloody point”
