well certain memes are definitely used to say “I’ve had enough of this serious conversation” and get some cheap laughs from people.
You’re saying that making jokes, using humour as a deflection, isn’t a valid and long-standing part of human interaction?
It comes down to the context you are using it but sometimes jokes at people’s expense are bad.
Like the classic hat whistling simpsons meme is kind of a way of going “look at these idiots!” and getting support from bystanders, sometimes I find that annoying depending on how and when it’s used
