learning to drive is extremely expensive

Not all of us have a life goal of driving a car that warns pedestrians we’re not going to stop at zebra crossings, though.

My nan couldn’t drive and so I guess she was just basically a really old child

Wanting to drive a car is literally an ambition solely for children

pretty sure anyone over 70 can’t drive anyway, so it’s just whether they DO

BMW’s are pretty naff, yeah

For people living in the Mongolian Steppe, riding a horse is a basic, adult life skill.

Driving a car is the same for people who choose to live in the home counties as adults.

As is travelling by two-wheeled analogue balance contraptions

My 74 year old dad claimed being able to drive a car was a human right, recently. (This was when the Govt pointed out he’d not lived in Europe for 35 years so they weren’t going to let him hold a UK driving licence any more.)

Yup.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the humble pedestrian has reached the zenith of adult transportation.

Yeah. Took my first lot of lessons at 18, didn’t pass my test until I was 30. I was not the most motivated of learners. It took the possibility of getting a company car for me to finally pull my finger out.

Forty miles a day, five days a week. Occasional weekend driving too.

Always thought I’d hate it and it would be a necessary evil, but I quite enjoy it now.

I’m talking about wanting to have a basic skill in a kind of ‘I can put up an Ikea flat pack’ or other basic things that really people should be aspiring to have in their back pocket

Basic like ugg boots and a pumpkin spice latte?

so many people who don’t drive trying to look all “yeah but it’s not cool and I don’t really need to anyway” when they desperately want to learn but can’t afford it or are too scared :frowning:

A “basic skill” that costs around £1000…

Hmm…

If you’re shit and need a lot of lessons then yeah, I guess
