You might be thinking of “chimes” rather than “jibes”, but I still get the point you’re making.

Impossible to forget the ending. Pegg turns to camera and gives a speech that, from memory, goes something like this…

I think now, looking back, we did not fight the enemy; we fought ourselves. And the enemy was in us. The war is over for me now, but it will always be there, the rest of my days as I’m sure Elias will be, fighting with Barnes for what Rhah called possession of my soul. There are times since, I’ve felt like the child born of those two fathers. But, be that as it may, those of us who did make it have an obligation to build again, to teach to others what we know, and to try with what’s left of our lives to find a goodness and a meaning to this life.

… in a shed.

Merriam-Webster is a pretty good judge of things most of the time, apart from its clickbait decision to classify a hot dog as a sandwich.

Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn about zombies

I have made my feelings on ‘Hot Fuzz’ known before.

I loved it, but I also turned it off around the end.

I think that’s the done thing though.

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost have a new horror comedy vehicle in the pipeline btw…

Yes and it was rather touching

Interesting, the recent Spaced reunion interview made it sound like they don’t speak to each other any more (though tbf that was probably based on a single hour in a room with other people)

Yeah I saw that, so am also surprised by this.

Frost was recemtly on Richard Herring’s podcast and didn’t suggest any issues with Pegg at all.

Camera pulls away slowly to reveal the name on the shed

Shaun of the dead - meh
Hot fuzz - decent
Worlds end - fucking dreadful

No.

Same goes for almost every other film or book ever made.

Empire have just released their best films of the decade list…

Shaun Of The Dead - 61
Hot Fuzz - 67
The World’s End - surprisingly not placed

Shaun turns to the camera and says “I have to go now, my planet needs me.” and then he dies on the way back to his home planet.

Spaced - 9/10
SOTD - 8/10
HF - 6/10
TWE - 3/10 (not seen it)

Very weird how none of them have worked since, was probably a good time to stop tho eh.
