Pandemic and my housemate leaving means I’m hyper aware of actually how much easier/healthier aspects of my life would be with a car. I know it’s not environmentally friendly but it means I can much more easily go swimming, it massively massively helps me with shopping (my wrists are too weak to carry much) and means I can visit my parents/friends in awkward places as and when I feel like it. Not like I would be commuting to work or anything as I walk.
Once I’ve moved house and got an updated provisional licence I’m going to start driving lessons again, this time in an automatic. Will have to retake my theory test as well because it’s expired
I haven’t driven since a horrible failed test in October 2016 which was deeply scarring, but the automatic instructor I’ve been recommended has a lot of mental health training so hopefully can assuage some of my fears
