Ah, used car dealers, those bastions of honesty.

Depends what you’re after.

Also depends on what you know about engines and shit. If you know your stuff probably less of an issue…

You might at least get a warranty from a dealer though

If it’s a cheap car (maybe under 1k), this would be the best way to get the best deal, as long as you’re lucky enough to find someone making a genuine sale and not a backstreet motor trader.

Always look up the car’s MOT history on the gov.uk website before viewing (you only need the reg for this) to look for a pattern of good maintenance and for anything suspicious.

just did a comparethemarket on a Β£2,000 Kia car, is Β£1400/year steep for third party fire and theft? Single driver, 32 years old, been driving since I was 16

yes

I’d probably want it to be at least half that.

I’ll try again with a European car and see if it changes

Might be a trapped nerve, Teho.

(Robots have nerves don’t they?)

Well my first time owning a car in the UK but I’ve done a lot of driving. How does adding a relative work? Do you have to be on the same insurance plan as them or you just say β€œmy uncle in Bristol has been driving for 40 years now give me cheaper insurance”?

What does this mean?

Car will be parked outside my house at night and at work (secure) during the day

insurance is cheaper if your car is kept on a private driveway or in a garage

Do you have a Uk licence or dirty foreign? Or international permit thing?

Have a look on quote me happy

Has anyone seen the Honda E? I kind of want one, though far outside of my price range, I would like to go electric one day soon.

Big fan of the IKEA-ish interior also

Do they need proof though? Would it be tied to the fact I have to provide my address and they can look up the parking situation?

I’ve never been asked for proof, but I suppose they could probably look you up to check your address

You don’t need proof but it will invalidate your insurance should if be stolen or crashed into or whatever outside your home.

It’s all a scam though as you get penalised for not keeping on your drive but you’re allowed to leave it anywhere else at any other time.

Jesus Christ, just for insurance? Do you live in a literal war zone?
