Can I just say: I drive a cabriolet and Sunday was exceptional driving conditions. We had an appointment in the Chilterns and the swirl of the breeze was just lovely, lovely stuff.

I need to buy some blank CDs as the radio is bust. Is there any good music that won’t make me look a total laughing stock? Or is all music terrible still?

That said, I has almost 90,000 miles on the clock and I will enjoy part-exchanging for something else.

There’s a new Future Islands album out this week. I believe @anon29812515 is a big fan.

You have me confused with @bugduv

I’m the southern one

You’re all southern to me, pal.

Except that one poor bastard from Aberdeen. Also japes.

Just this on repeat

Easy mistake to make. Both self-made womanising petrolheads.

time to delve into the pile of autotraders I think!

Insurance renewal has just been emailed to me…

Last year, I paid just under £500 and then got £80 back when I changed my car in December. Was expecting to maybe even get it below £400 this year…

drum roll

£790! Assumed it was the current insurer taking the piss with their renewal price (and how) as usual, so have been getting a few quotes - cheapest so far is £695.
Admittedly, I live in a shit part of Birmingham, but even if I put in my sister-in-laws address in Suffolk down, the cheapest is still coming back £50 higher than I paid last year.

The fuck is going on there?

Blame the EU, allegedly http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4115536/EU-car-insurance-farce-Premiums-set-rise-UNINSURED-drivers-compensation.html (with apologies for the DM link, it was that or the Express)

Dunno, but my renewal went up by £95. Shopped around and got it substantially cheaper, but was perplexed about the hike in premium costs.

In other news, MOT and service today, and I’m dreading how much it’ll cost. 24500 miles in a year. Might take it’s toll on the car

I’ll look forward to a double-figure renewal price in a couple of years time then…

I think the insurers have drummed up the ‘EU causing the insurance tax rate to increase’ story. The tax rate has increased from 9.5% to 10%. They’re just sharks and autorenewal means it’s worth them trying it on because I bet some people just don’t bother to check.

My multicar premium renewal price went up £200 (no claims or any change in circumstances). Comparison site said I could get a renewal price for what I was currently paying, so phoned up and 20 mins later had matched it.

I don’t mean drummed up, I mean they’ve made a massive thing about it in the media so people are expecting an increase and don’t question it. The increases seem disproportionate.

Yeah, I was expecting the usual £50 increase, but find it £100 cheaper elsewhere then get the ‘Oh, we can match it’ when I ring up and tell them to stick it. But it’s £300! Like I say, even the cheapest ones I’ve found are around the £700 mark still. Don’t think I paid much more than £800 for my first year driving.

As you say though - “It’s the EU’s fault”.

And then I suppose there’ll be a massive hike in 2 years time “because Brexit”

Also saw this though, which suggests it’s the government’s fault - although “an average increase of £50-75”

Bumping this thread to say that just 20 minutes ago, an Audi driver LET ME IN FROM A JUNCTION!!!
