My entire family now owns Skodas (make of that what you will), I mostly drive an 11 plate Yeti which is an absolute dream to drive.

Yeah, I’m a big fan. My girlfriend only really trusts Japanese cars though.

It’s a volkswagen though, so super reliable.

Yup - my ex has an 05 plate Fabia which she’s had for about 9 years and although it doesn’t do mega-miles, the only outlay she’s had is a new battery and a new clutch.

I know Japanese cars have a good rep for reliability as well, but I find them exceedingly bland for the most part.

I’ve got an 05 plate Fabia and it’s perfect for city driving. MOT history has been pretty decent although I’m taking it for its first MOT since I got it in June and knowing my luck there’ll probably be shitloads wrong with it…

Benefit of a Fabia is that it’s got a timing chain rather than a timing belt so if you’re looking at 2nd hand that’s one major problem of getting used motors out of the way.

My wife has a Fabia and it’s great. I’d really recommend looking at Skoda.

Prius’s don’t have a great reputation. I’ve driven an Auris rental car and it was alright, and I’m not a Honda fan (but don’t really have a rationale for that).

Yeah, I know everything gets bigger, but the Civic has gone from being the size of a Metro to the size of a Golf and the new one is like a saloon.
