:frowning: Cmon 2016 at least give me time to mourn one before taking another from me

Ikr, Star Wars and Bowie was my childhood and as I’ve grown up, if anything I love them even more now. Just the worst fucking year. With loads of family illness and shit I don’t need this. Can we sort out a Carrie Fisher Force ghost or something? And I don’t mean a CGI one, I need an irl one please

Weird, I just watched rogue one and felt a pang of sadness when she appears

Giving away my age The Empire Strikes Back was the first film ever I saw at the cinema. I still remember that day. Huge shame. 60 is so young. RIP.

Fuck sake :frowning:

Yeah she was a real good 'un tbh. Shame.

Sad news. She seemed such an interesting woman, intelligent, but slightly crazy - in a good way.

Sad news - was really hoping she would recover and say that she survived 2016. The first film I saw in the cinema as a kid was Return Of The Jedi and then I became a real Star Wars junkie so she featured heavily in my childhood. RIP

And now her mum as well. That’s brutal on the rest of the family.

God, so weird for her mum to go too. I watched Singin’ In The Rain on Christmas Day and Reynolds owns it. It’s such a curious movie for the time, really meta and surreal. You kinda expect it to be very innocent and straightforward but aspects are very Hitchcockian and Lynchian with its questioning of the value of the perceived stars and how changing styles and technologies quickly render them worthless for the domineering money-men. Brilliant.

Singin’ In The Rain is so fucking good, I genuinely couldn’t believe how good it was the first time I watched it. What a weird, sad week.

Yeah, was weird watching it the other day 'cos I was sure I’d seen it at least once before on the big screen (and surely countless times in dribs and drabs as a kid on TV). But I seemed to have a completely new reading of it as an older man, haha. It wasn’t how I remembered it that’s for sure.

Plus the dancing is out of this world. Funny too. I’ve just been watching “Good Morning” on repeat. Should probably stop doing that.
