Any idea what the Glasgow venue is?

Its part of Great Western festival

Might buy a Brighton ticket since I will (hopefully) be at Le Guess Who when she plays London.

So oran mor or hug and pint? Or some daft street?

Looks as in the past have also used QMU, Maryhill Hall and Mackintosh Queens Cross Church.

Same date as 65dos, shame

great that sheā€™s playing in Bristol, wish I knew what the venue was! Her record is my AOTY so far, but I do worry that a big part of the appeal is the production and the sound with the variety of instruments etc, and I donā€™t know how thatā€™ll translate live.

Bristol show is at the Louisiana, which is a lovely little room

Bit annoying that the London show is as support to Bobby Gillespie and Jenny Beth. Not sure Iā€™m bothered about seeing them and paying the premium price for the privilege.

Bought a ticket for Brighton. Itā€™s at the Green Door Store so handy for the train back to London.

Finally got round to getting this album, as itā€™s just been reissued on vinyl. Itā€™s a wonderful, wonderful thing isnā€™t it?

Mine arrived yesterday. Had a nice time just lying on the floor listening to it, such a lovely album. Hasnā€™t been bettered this year yet for me.

What I love about it is that it is a very elusive record - it sort of slips through your fingers before you can quite work out what it is. You start out thinking itā€™s going to be a fairly conventional singer songwriter album and then it goes into unexpected places with the almost spoken word sections and the extended instrumental bits. At times it seems straightforwardly ā€˜confessionalā€™ but other bits are more diff to pin down lyrically. Itā€™s a really excellent piece of work.

Iā€™d be very happy if thatā€™s the lineup on the Euro tour

Canā€™t stop watching this. So so lovely

Cassandra Jenkinsā€™ An Overview on Phenomenal Nature emerged from the blue earlier this year. With pandemic unknowns and political upheaval leaving most at frayed ends, the New York-born musicianā€™s assuring voice and expansive fresh take on songwriting created a much needed reflective space for listeners worldwide. As 2021 comes to a close, Jenkins revisits those flowing textures and refrains with (An Overview On) An Overview On Phenomenal Nature, a collection of previously unreleased sonic sketches, initial run-throughs, demos, and sound recordings from the cutting room floor that provided the scaffolding for what became one of this yearā€™s most critically acclaimed albums.
When Jenkins visited Josh Kaufmanā€™s studio this summer, they opened up their original sessions to uncover the ideas that were shed in the creative process. The new collection, (An Overview On) An Overview On Phenomenal Nature, isnā€™t merely a retrospective; it acts as a clear-eyed addendum as well as a compelling origin story, coming to life as a subconscious companion to the original album.
First takes of ā€œNew Bikiniā€ and ā€œHaileyā€ are born from opposite starting points; while ā€œNew Bikiniā€ began as an airy alto meander, ā€œHaileyā€ā€™s origins lie in an upbeat dance track. On ā€œCrosshairs (Interlude),ā€ Jenkinsā€™ pitched vocal delivers a straight monotone, recasting the format as poetry with music highlighting her words, and ā€œAmbiguous Norway (Instrumental)ā€ lifts the ambient nature of the mournful song into glimmering waves. The demo version of ā€œMichelangeloā€ contains alternate lyrics ā€œIā€™m Michelangelo, a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle,ā€ a lost contrast to the later verse where Jenkinsā€™ likens herself to the sculptor. On ā€œHard Drive (Security Guard),ā€ we join Jenkins as she listens to a passionate museum guard whose promised ā€œoverviewā€ of the exhibit on view builds into a monologue of observations on art, politics, feminism and the human condition. This candid interaction evolved into the cornerstone and title of Jenkinsā€™ album.
Before they decided to make an album together, Jenkins brought Kaufman a song called ā€œAmerican Spirits.ā€The dusky ballad takes us to the Texas plains via a voicemail from the payphone of a county jail (ā€œMs. Cassandraā€). Cassandra sings, ā€œTime here burns through the sunsets / Like you and a pack of American Spiritsā€ over warm instrumentation with a vocal delivery that reinforces Jenkinsā€™ unwavering tenderness towards her subjects.
(An Overview On) An Overview On Phenomenal Nature bookends Cassandra Jenkinsā€™ musical output this year with nuance, coloring in the corners, and giving us another window into her ever-expanding world of chance encounters, experiences, and sonic textures. They glimmer like the sunā€™s changing patterns on the wall as a new day gets going.

think this is more going to be a ā€˜nice to hearā€™ than a must-listen, but Iā€™ll be curious to check it out
