They love a balled up bit of paper. We had those malteaser truffles at xmas and she was there waiting every time we opened one up. She gets so excited when you ball one up and chuck it across the wood flooring!

Loving the number of DiS black cats

Does she fetch?

When we were in the shelter, we had a cat in mind but it didn’t work out with her. When we asked about other cats the volunteer said ‘Are you after looks or personality?’

We said personality and they showed us Cleo, saying that black cats ‘don’t look as good in the photographs’. Depressing! But we are the real winners because we got looks AND personality.

He gets bitey fairly often when he’s had enough fuss, but he’s never gone for me like that before.

If he keeps it up, we’ll get him to the vets. :+1:

Yikes! I’m sorry :frowning:
Winnie is much better than she was for the first 6-12 months we got her but she’ll still randomly attack me very occasionally and I find it really upsetting. I cried about it recently cos we were having a nice snuggle when she suddenly leapt up and bit and scratched my arm really purposefully and it really hurt my feelings
I usually give her the cold shower for about half an hour before forgetting she’s evil and loving on her again.

Thank you!! I am so excited. I haven’t had a cat for a few years now after being with them all my life, so I just can’t wait. We first met her on Sunday, and you have to do 2 further visits within 7 days (basically to show commitment). We have done the first one (where we fell even more in love) and the 2nd is tomorrow. When we first visited she was hiding in the corner of the room under a chair, but she really softened up once we started stroking her. She’s a heartbreaker

She does this amazing thing where you stroke her head and she leans really hard into your hand. Exhibit A:

I LOVE HER!
Awww I am so happy for you :hugs:

Where are you adopting her from? We found Winnie at Cats Protection. They did a home visit, then invited us to the cattery about a week later. We looked around, saw a few cats. I always wanted a ginge but the one we had been told about had other people coming to see him later too.
Winnie was in with her two kittens (who were 4 yrs old and were to go as a pair) The Tom was really friendly. They had been at CP for a month.
Winnie was sat in her basket, not looking as pretty as she does now as her neck had been shaved to give her injections and not being friendly at all. In fact, she had a right strop on. She only allowed a light pet on the forehead. She was not happy. Something screamed at me that she needed to get out of there and we had to take her home. They let us take her right there and then! She miaowed the whole car journey. I was so worried we’d made a mistake, as I did not consider taking her back to be an option. I hadn’t fallen in love with her, I just knew she needed to get out of the cattery. I am so so so glad I had that weird impulse.
She’s my sweet, darling princess and I love her with all my heart :black_heart:

Oh yeah, also they said they would do a follow up visit to see how she was getting on. They called after she’d been with us about a week but that was it, no visit! I guess they must just struggle with not enough volunteers/time/resources to follow up on every cat.
