Thank you. I have been trying to brace myself for the inevitable but I also remember what happened with Smudge, where I anxiously took him in for an exam and he was put to sleep an hour later. Tanuki might live a couple more years but he might not. At least today I didn’t leave sobbing!

That’s all a bit heavy. We will see how he does on these new meds.

I’m sorry that happened with Smudge, it’s good that they weren’t in pain for too long. It must have been a horrible shock.

You did well holding things in but it’s okay to be upset. He has incredibly beautiful and trusting eyes, you’re doing an amazing job with Tanuki. My thoughts are with him and you.

I used an empty box for copier paper and flattened the lid to make a sort of porch; the box is set partway over it. It’s lined with a washable absorbent pad (because he sometimes throws up in there). The dark blue mass to the left is some nice wool to cuddle in and he has a honeysuckle toy on which to gnaw. Sorry the picture isn’t better but it’s at the back of the closet. He does casually hang out in it sometimes but it’s where he instantly goes when he is upset. It’s adorable and hilarious.
