šŸ’æ CDs you've bought (rolling) šŸ’æ

Yeah, nowhere and those early EPs, (4 I think?) are just a solid body of work that the band themselves can’t really better. Unfamiliar from the Today Forever EP is something I still pull out and play often today.

Nothing special. I quite liked the first two Fleet Foxes’ releases but bailed on them as I held them partly responsible for the ā€˜Stomp, Clap, Hey!’ horror that followed. Anyway, I heard ā€˜Helplessness Blues’ on a TV drama the other night and thought I should revisit them and lo and behold…It’s my first charity shop purchase in over two years due to streaming and my local shops discovering Discogs prices. It was nice to have the rush of handing my 20p over (and it’s rare to find a digipack that isn’t monstered).

Edit: I’ve now realised why I haven’t actively listened to Fleet Foxes in 15 years, can I have my 20p back?

You knew what you were buying.

I think once you’ve been covered by Alexander Armstrong the game is up.

That’s a great album!

They never clicked for me until I saw them live on that album tour (for free working as a steward) and they sounded incredible.

A bit weightier than the debut, some of the prog-folk creeping in that they’d go all in on on the (eventual) third album but nicely balanced against the lovely sunny 60s harmonies.

Lovely packaging as well. 20p is a bargain!

Genuinely don’t like those first two albums but the third album is great. Saw them once around the first album and hated it but the show for Crack-Up was amazing.

I saw them on their first UK tour (supported by their then drummer Josh Tillman later to become Father John Misty). They were pretty good - nothing startling. I think I’m going to charity shop gift this and my other two Fleet Foxes CDs - I’ve no desire to listen to them again. I wonder if there’s any merit in setting up a CD trading page?
