This is perhaps a little before some of you were around, but Why Don’t You was big when I was a nipper. Bizarrely, the title music (see below) suggested that we should ‘switch of your television set and go and do something less boring instead’ which is somewhat self-defeating given it was a fucking tv programme.

Here; this is how we amused ourselves in the late 70s

Remember watching one of those ‘Do You Remember The 80s’ clip shows a few years back and they had one of the producers of Why Don’t You on. Remember how all the ideas were supposedly sent in by kids? Lies, unsurprisingly. Apparently all done by the production team. Kids only ever sent in recipes for rice crispie cakes, the feeble minded idiots…

Yeah. They were already quite old when I saw them on CBBC. Remember one where there was a threatening gang of kids and one of them wore a deflated football as a hat.

see follow up post. I wasn’t allowed to watch ITV up until I was 11. It was pretty traumatic. Having to lie/pretend I’d watched the A-Team/Knightrider/He-Man/Mask etc etc etc.

Worst part was when I was finally allowed to watch it when I went to secondary school, my mum relaxed the rule for my little brother at the same time!! So unfair. I HATE YOU MUM! SLAMS DOOR

I won a Sammy’s Super T-shirt DVD and t-shirt (the actual tiger logo) combo in an online competition about 10 years ago. Convinced I’m the only person who entered it.

My wife wears the t-shirt to go jogging. Doesn’t seem to make her run any faster though.
