China have got a lot of big construction projects lined up

Worth keeping your eye on, if you’re into that sort of thing.

Would you like to know about the Entebbe - Kampala Expressway that the Chinese are building?

Is this the belt and road initiative thread?

Sure!

There’s talk of China building a bridge to Taiwan which is kind of mental.

*metal

Also buying or developing lots of ports

The infrastructure drive is built on a precarious amount of new debt issued by local Chinese governments as the central government tries to nullify concerns over slowing growth. Reports of a potential systemic crisis also hitting China’s banking system in the future have also complicated matters, with small regional lenders such as Baoshong Bank having to be brought under state control (not that they were ever free, of course) due to solvency issues.

This all comes at a time of soaring prices in the country’s pork market, the biggest in the world. This is being driven by an African swine fever epidemic gripping the country.

I have heard of their walls

Did you know that in China there are 56 cities with over 1 million people?

That’s a fact,
It’s a thing we can’t deny,
Like the fact that I will love you 'til I die

Strong thread, this. Almost as strong as the thread which binds us all together (emotionally-speaking)

Can’t believe China has fallen into the lap of Big Construction
