I’m not sure if I want to stir up the pot or not…

But what if the same cyclist was undertaking stationary traffic and a mum with a pushchair crossing the road appeared from behind the bus - and he ran into the pushchair

I don’t think anyone would be calling him the victim then…, but he would have been riding in exactly the same fashion

anyway - transport/ traffic in london/ big cities is rubbish (we are all victims of it maaaaaan) and cyclists are fucking awesome

By victim blaming I mean someone who has suffered personal injury and damage to their property while not breaking the law and following the rules of the road being apportioned some of the blame for something that is entirely as a result of another’s negligence.

and on double yellows too, tut tut tut.

so if you tell someone to lock up their bike when they leave it outside you are victim blaming? to me that trivialises it as a concept

idk fuck knows why i’m even talking about this. must be bored i guess.

If you watch the video carefully you’ll see the injured cyclist was actually riding pretty slowly, certainly slowly enough to brake if someone appeared from between vehicles, which is appropriate. Grayling actually opened the door into him from the side, which makes him even more of a twat.

The cyclist was riding legally and sensibly.

fair enough

I tried to see the close up detail - but couldn’t really see it well (does the video zoom in later? maybe i missed that bit)

Yeah, I don’t know either. I’m pretty bored and I’ve got loads of work to do.

Not definitive because we don’t see the car when the incident happened, but it doesn’t have a left indicator on, which it really it should if it’s stopping and someone’s getting out.

  • The cyclist is in the right & Grayling’s an arsehole
  • I fully support Chris Grayling’s actions in this and all other situations, along with those of his political party

If you look closely at the video you can see Grayling punch the cyclist as he goes to apologise. He may even have a knife. wanker.

I know in my heart of hearts that there’s a bigger ratio of bad drivers to bad cyclists on the road, but at least half of this sort of shit i witness day-to-day involves some fault on the part of the cyclist. Not defending this MP, seems like a twat, but i see the proplem more of drivers AND cyclists generally being irresponsible bellends who cause unecessary problems. South Manchester particularly is absolutely fucking infested with really angry militant cyclists who along with all the aggressive drivers need to fuck off and let us pedestrians go about our days in peace.

it’s been proven that cyclists make far better drivers (or safer drivers anyway)

Aye, I do all 3 (Paedostrian, cyclist, driver) and cyclists (on the road) are the easily the least annoying other group. Obviously anyone cycling on the pavement needs to fuck right off, but they’re a different category imo
