Christmas 2020 Gift Ideas Thread ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŽ

Can anyone talk to me about Balance bikes?
I want to get one for my nephew for Christmas. Heโ€™s gonna be 2 in Jan. Would this be a good idea?

Better for learning to ride than a bike with stabilisers

Itโ€™s our present to our son on his second birthday

They go from ยฃ200 to ยฃ130. I donโ€™t know what you get from Frog at the top end

The best is toddle bike to balance bike to normal bike.

Worked incredibly well for our first (could ride within ten minutes of getting on a bike when he was four) and the second is starting to show interest in the toddle bike at 17 months.

Bit of a cheaper gift though.

We have a frog proper bike but for balance we had a Puky which was excellent. One with a brake is good.

Am I doing it wrong? We were going to get this for our almost two year old. Didnโ€™t realise they went as far as ยฃ200!!!

Donโ€™t worry, ours too. It doesnโ€™t have a brake, which is why I didnโ€™t post it in reply to @Balonz :disappointed:

Mโ€™s is lovely and a really good brand. It was only about ยฃ50.

Iโ€™m constantly jealous of it

Sheโ€™s had it since she was 2 and is 4 now

Sorry didnโ€™t realise you had already got one. We didnโ€™t get the balance bike until he was 3. We had the ยฃ20 brakeless toddle bike before that.

I didnโ€™t think to check Decathlon, of course!

We bought a balance bike for our daughterโ€™s second birthday, she ignored it for two years and has got the hang of it now sheโ€™s four. Depends how physically confident your nephew is really, Iโ€™m sure other children would be fine with it at 2.

Bought some gravitrax, thanks for the suggestion!

Itโ€™s great!

Worth looking second hand for a balance bike. Kids outgrow stuff so quickly that thereโ€™s a massive market out there and youโ€™ll get perfectly good stuff for a fraction of the new price*. Good thing about a balance bike is that thereโ€™s basically nothing mechanical that can be dodgy.

*Apart from Frog, Isla, etc. bikes for which there is a cut-throat second hand scene and everything sells for about 99% of retail price seconds after going online.

Edinburgh mob, I want to get my friend who lives up there a hamper from a local deli / of local produce for Christmas. Are there any good places that would do this sort of thing that you know of?

I will have a think/look around

Thankyou.

Italian deli I love (not going to be very Scottish ofc but still a local place)

One of my best friends lives by this shop and absolutely swears by it. Theyโ€™re officially closed i think but if you email theyโ€™ll make up something custom Iโ€™m sure - for example they opened up especially for my friend so she could do her present shopping there, so they can be pretty flexible

Fancy cheese stuff from where I grew up near Edinburgh

Fancy cupcakes round the corner from mine

Anything from here, basically design for what youโ€™re after
