Not going to the party this time around because I just don’t think I enjoy it really. It’s only rarely I enjoy drinking/dancing with my friends so thought it best not to go. Me and my team are going to have a Christmas meal in town though and I think it’ll be really nice because it’s the kind of office where there’s almost no socialising outside of the workplace.

In my previous job we would go on a booze cruise around the river then go on a bar crawl. It was hellish and fun, but I couldn’t stomach it now.

we used to have a +1 invitation, there’d often be ex workers (most people here are pretty friendly with each other outside of work too), then one guy turned up and slagged the place off loads and the +1s stopped.

(I couldn’t find this option in the poll)

you know those massive carts you see around London that are being pedalled by like 15 people all drinking bottles of beer? that would be a really terrible christmas party, but I reckon it’ll happen to some poor bastards this christmas.

the bike wankers would probably love it though, right.

Xmas parties are great free grub and booze. Usually some drama of a sort that does the office rounds for a few weeks. I like most of the ppl I work with and its one of the only times were all out at the same time.

We have people who come along who haven’t worked in the team for over five years. For me, I think it’s fair enough to invite people back for their first Christmas after they’ve left, but to turn up year after year seems a bit Brent.

they changed the location for ours this year already - was at some place that had ballroom in the name but now it doesn’t. it’ll be the standard thing though:

  • i will say i’m not going as i cba, will still go though as it might be ok
  • load of tables in a big room, shite starter, probably fish based, chicken main with shite on the side and something chocolate based for dessert
  • raffle with tickets for like £20 for 5 tickets, never win (apart from last year when i did)
  • might have some “entertainment”, which has ranged from circus performers and brazilian bands to senior management people having a darts tournament
  • same shite music, same people on the dancefloor straight away to embarrass themselves
  • go home at about 10 because i cba anymore

my friend who usually does the same thing isn’t going this year as they’ve changed which departments go. maybe this year i just shouldn’t bother.

Location - Royal Armouries in Leeds
Date - Friday 16 December
Eating - Pate, Maple Glazed Chicken, Selection of Cheeses
Drinking - Pre meal - Beer, During meal -Red Wine, Post meal - Cider, Whiskey & Ginger Ale.

Looking forward to it. I generally enjoy a Christmas do. Get hammered, talk shit with colleagues. Dance to songs I don’t like. They have some sort of band on called the Bogus Brothers. According to the bumf, Alex Ferguson said “Bogus Brothers, absolutely fantastic”, and Eddie Jordan said “I’ve booked the Bogus Brothers for my 60th and all my kids weddings - Fantastic” - they look shit.

Shall we sign up for National Billy No Workmates party? Everyone has to bring their own booze.

Don’t invite anyone who can’t behave in a hottub.

I’ll start my own bloody party.

Yes, please stay in your own hot tub, away from the general water.

There was some weird falling out in our office before I started, so instead of everyone going out together, there’s a really small clique (some of whom retired in the meantime) who go out at Xmas. I sit on the desk of the main cliquer and get invited along.

We’re re going out on 23rd Dec to a restaurant in Glasgow and my two favourite people can’t come.

I’m thinking about arranging drinks or something with other people in the office. I won’t go any further than thinking about it though.

Last two years I’ve been asked to leave for dancing too wildly which made them think I was much more drunken than everyone else. Hope to avoid that this year. Just can’t help it when I hit the flo.

Count me in. (Will probably skip the hot tubs part though.)

Ah’m oot. Anyone need a +1 for their Christmas party.

You know what you did. And it ain’t right or normal.

In the Creepy Tub?

The hire place won’t give the deposit back after what you did.
