I ate it in the restaurant it was created in in Alfriston. It’s closed down now though

I guess the Radio 4 panel game picked it up because this fact went around twitter a month or two ago.

(It’s good to be back)

I knew about Ciabatta ages ago BTW

I was there in 1982, at the baking of the first ciabatta in Verona. I was working on the oven controls.

Baguettes were only invented in the Sixties. Before then the French just ate Kingsmill with everything

Dammit

Google says it was in Jevington, not Alfriston. Not been to Alfriston for ages, really want to go there now Sussex creators of Banoffee Pie serve last slice as Eastbourne restaurant closes | The Argus

Oh yeah that’s the place

The post office in alfriston does lovely baked goods

It really does, have had many pies from there. Love the layout of the post office too, with the big staircase going up the middle. Did you know Morning Has Broken was inspired by Alfriston?

I did not know this!

That post office has saved me on many a long bike

Surprised it hasn’t been cancelled yet
