I’d expected it to be half empty

Bit late to the party; but having just discovered this album, I’m loving it.

Court of Arbitration for Sport is a much better band name

What’s the consensus for DiS? Do we like them? We hate them, right?

Anyway, I think that album’s great. Anyone also seeing them at The Roundhouse tonight or seen them elsewhere recently?

In the end I’ve decided they’re ok. Preferred their singles tbh, the album has a lovely sound but too many of the songs are indistinct.

Be interested to hear a live report, though.

Pretty good tunes. I’ve seen some people really laying into them for reasons unclear. The name really is awful isn’t it…

I’ve been really enjoying the album. We listen to it a lot when going to sleep. I mean it’s so bloomin’ dull. I mean, it’s just bass over the verses and then some guitar comes in and copies the bass with maybe a bit of arpeggio, but it’s so soothing. Really like it.

It’s like paint by numbers shoegaze isn’t it? The lyrics are fucking horrendous. Pretty questionable too in places.

That said some of the tunes are rather gorgeous. Feels irritating to actually kinda like something which is so calculated but there we have it.

Went to see them with my mate when they were touring the album. Speaking as a huge fan of repetitive music, it was the most boring gig I’ve been to for years. I think there’s one quite nice tune in there but they just play it over and over.

Usually I get standing tickets for The Roundhouse. I’ve opted for seats for a change just because of their music style. I’ll let you guys know what I thought of the gig.

Alice Beer from Watchdog tried to sit in my seat. I’m going to phone Watchdog up about this shocking behaviour.

Cigarettes After Sex at The Roundhouse were pretty boring. Their album nonetheless will make my top 10 of the year but their gig was dull. It’s perfect music (for me) for walking around etc. and during my commute when I listen to music the most. I rarely just put on an album at home and sit down and listen to it.

The album is great. The gig underwhelming. Alice Beer spotting was the highlight of the night (together with my aisle seat that she and her party tried to steal. Yes, steal.)

Imagine what shit she’d try to pull at a National gig.

i’d never go see them again either
really really dull live

First time hearing them and it’s a little sleepy but in a staring at the ceiling, wasting an afternoon kind of way. I think that’s good.

I’ve been listening to this a fair bit in the last few weeks. Anytime he uses the words “make love” my skin just crawls.

What a creep/arsehole/dickhead/sumbag. Props to her for speaking out.

saw this thread pop up and thought - i bet its another band i can’t listen to now. yep

fuck sake. guess that’s another record for the fucking bin.

Come on, I think we’ve spoken enough on these boards about how this isn’t an appropriate reaction.

ye, bit selfish. sorry.
