Think she is really good and has evolved in a way that I would not have predicted from those early bedroom pop singles. New album has super sturdy songcraft and lushhhh production. Very 60s/70s soft rock.
This is very catchy
And (despite what I said above about being 60s/70s) this sounds like stereolab or broadcast
Also the live ep she released last year was really impressive, hopefully she tours with this kind of set up for the new LP
She also seems to be pretty popular with gen z which is cool.
Getting a lot of buzz this. It’s taking me a while to get over the breathless singing. Some songs are just straight up unintelligible to me, although it’s definitely an artistic choice.
But it does feel like an honest pastiche and I appreciate that softly decadent 70s style, will give it another go with a poor man’s martini.
Funny this thread was created now, have literally just started listening to her new one. Not surprised the 60s/70s vibes considering El Michels Affair were involved in this one.
