Why not both?

“We are where we are” is my parents’ one of these. It’s true, and annoying!

Can I take this opportunity to say I don’t like it when people say ‘cliche’ instead of ‘cliched’.

Thank you

Laughter is the best medicine (unless you are asthmatic)

Maybe laughter is still a good maintenance treatment, but Ventolin is definitely a better reliever therapy

I like it when there is a cliché (well, a proverb really) for both sides of an argument.

“Fools rush in where angels fear to tread” vs “fortune favours the brave”

“You’ve got to speculate to accumulate” vs “a fool and his money are soon parted”

The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree

True, unless it’s at the top of a hill or something.

A stitch, delivered in a timely fashion to a garment, is indeed likely to save nine further stitches (which would be required if small hole in a garment was left unchecked)

Walked past the bus stop on my way to work and heard an old woman say, “You watch there’ll be three along at once in a minute”.

Some top top bus stop chat right there.

These are not clichés! They are aphorisms!
