listening to FJAAK instead, sorry everyone

I’ve a couple of Strava buddies (never met them in real live obvs) who go from Wales over the original Severn Crossing round and back again not sure how this ties in with being based in Bristol but there you go.

That’s a great call with Jimmy Eat World, that melody sounds like it could be straight off Clarity or Futures.

Enjoying the album but it’s taken a few listens. Thought it was a bit tame at first. I’m hearing a hint of Weezer… but thankfully not enough to sully the whole experience

There’s one song which is a blatant weeper rip off, third one maybe?

is that misspelling of ‘Weezer’ or have I just never heard of ‘Weeper’?

Everyone knows who Weeper are Theo! They had that song, Buzzy Hoppy!

I dunno. I’d say ‘Internal World’ is quite Weezer like?

Although not sure it’s really a rip off (there’d have to be a specific song @Severed799 is thinking of, of course).

(Clearly unless it’s a song on the Blue album or Hash Pipe or Beverley Hills, then no one actually cares anyway.)

The main enjoyable feel I get from it is that Source Tags & Codes era Trail of Dead feel on a bunch of tracks.

Basically any time a band does a song with a slightly cleaner production or with power chords and a melody, reviews will say it sounds like Weezer. You could make a whole thread of songs that reviews said sound like Weezer. Usually it’s just lazy music journalism , but on occasion it’s spot on.

And in this case?

In this case, I don’t really think it sounds like Weezer anymore than it sounds like 100’s of other rock bands who poppy hooks.

You implied there was a particular track though?

guess I’m a lazy journalist then

Did I?

Yeah
