Just watched a bit of Gorillaz, for my sins. Everyone in the crowd just recording the gig on their phones.

The singer from Gabriels (on the Gobi stage rn) looks very smart but is not appropriately dressed for being in the California desert.
I realise Blink won’t be to everyone’s tastes but “Dalai Lama kissing booth” was a very funny joke.

I feel like I’ve posted this exact thing before, but I’ve seen them live twice and found it impossibly dull both times. I’m not sure why, as I like the songs and it’s exciting seeing the guests they bring out and it should be fun. I’ve got a upsetting suspicion that it just might not be that enjoyable being in the crowd for them. I probably need to watch one of the gigs I was at, on TV, to see if they’re better on screen.

Same when I saw them at Primavera last year. Big fan but found it all extremely flat. I think the “virtual band” conceit (as much as it still exists) puts a weird distance between the act and the audience, idk.

Yeah, that was one of the times I saw them. Left halfway through and had a much more fun time watching Diiv. Not sure shoegazing is meant to be more fun than pop.

Same - and DIIV blew me away - such a groovy, energetic performance that just seemed to suck people in. Was admittedly quite high but thought they sounded unbelievable too.

Was there and really enjoyed it, don’t think we could see the stage that well so wasn’t paying much attention to that which maybe helped.

Find boygenius extremely dull myself, but would probably be the ideal situation to see them and replenish a bit of energy after seeing the two best popstars of the past decade back to back…
