Probably just implied when you go to a coffee shop and don’t specify innit.

  • I wet the filter paper with a bit of water (from the tap), then pour that out
  • put in like 2 tbsp of coffee
  • fill up to in between the 1 and the 2, probably closer to the 2
  • stir it up a bit
  • wet the plunger
  • plunge straight away
  • all the way down, esecially when it makes that nice fizzy sound?
  • I then top the coffee up with water

my aeropressing dramatically changed soon as someone told me its there to make espresso and not a full cup o joe

Grounds down the plug hole?!
enjoy your blockage!

it’s just really brewing the coffee upsidedown in the aeropress

meant to say, i’ve switched to a hand grinder from that electric one you posted upthread. it’s infinitely better now. sorry for your bad coffee.

WHAT I don’t understand
How upside down?
So you’re putting the coffee and water in then turning it upside down?!
why

enjoy YOUR bad coffee you upside down aeropress tosspot

no, it’s upsidedown to begin with ffs then you put the water and the coffee in, then turn it round to plunge. why on earth would you think it’s the other way?

seriously please try a burr hand grinder. best upgrade available.

what’s the reason for that?

@bluto

I really don’t know why you’d do this method?

You screw the lid on, put the coffee in, then plunge after

This is weird and will defo be some kind of mess/burning hand situation
Not into it.

Helps it slip down easier.

It’s not upside down to begin with. The clue is in the number being not upside down.

So there’s no liquid loss through the filter

ok fine that makes sense but I’m too stubborn to admit it. You’re all using it wrong

the amount of liquid loss is minimal!

This is exactly the same as my method except I fire most of the coffee grounds into the bin. As it all goes in one mushy puck seems a bit unnecessary doing it in the sink.

Also allows for longer brewing.

They are fine to go down the plughole, they are too fine to cause an issue. Never had an issue in two houses and work, my parents have been doing it for years with theirs too. Fat on the other hand - avoid pouring that down. Solidifies like a bugger, taking the pipes apart for that is not fun.

I’m not sure. I don’t really like to put anything down the plug hole.

  • I pour coffee grounds down the plug hole
  • I put coffee grounds in the bin
  • Other option (please state)

put them (and the paper filter) in the compost bin rather than landfill bin

Rinse out my cafetiere with a little water and wash it down the plughole. Not sure why I would choose to pour it into the bin
