loads of places

here are some of my favourite coffee roasters:

Are you in Leeds? If you are and want to buy in your person;

North Star roasters are based at Leeds dock and sell from they’re cafe/shop there.

Laynes/sheath street/kapow all sell beans. Think if do too

Started using these guys recently, mainly cos they’re local, but they are also really good

yeah I have a moka with milk with breakfast, then a black V60 for a mid morning pick-me-up

I realise this might make me a coffee wanker philistine but I grind a day or twos worth of coffee and pour it from my grinder caddy to a small sealable tupperware pot. This doesn’t spill anything, and it’s then easier to fill my Aeropress from that pot using the provided scoop, again without spilling. The grinds aren’t always ultra fresh, but it does make life a bit easier…

Once made the ground get popped into the food bin and then I wash off the crumbs leftover on the Aeropress into the sink.

I got a couple of really nice bags from here recently

A couple of others that haven’t been mentioned already:

I use Store 1 — The Good Coffee Cartel as can get plastic free.

But yeah for Leeds, North Star have a good rep

Should do a swap where everyone buys from each others local place one month.

A cheapskate and a beginner that likes ‘nice coffee’ here (though if I’m totally honest I can rarely identify the tasting notes)

Is there some kind of nice coffee subscription place where I can get a free trial, or a decent offer at first, like a beer52 type thing. I’ve used Pact before I think.

My parents got me a 6 month sub to this for Christmas: https://www.bluecoffeebox.com/

I’ve had four coffees from four different roasters so far. One was shit, but the other three have all been pretty nice.

It’s not the best coffee I’ve ever had, but it’s better than I was expecting from my parents who judge the quality of coffee solely on how “strong” it tastes.

A few that haven’t been shouted out yet that I really like:

Curve Coffee Roasters, Margate - this particular coffee is incredible and they often roast the same coffee to different profiles for espresso and filter.

Dark Arts, Hackney - excellent bunch, until very recently were roasting next to a massive weed farm in East London. You’ll get some great stickers with every order and their YouTube channel is really good fun.

Monmouth - used to go to their Covent Garden cafe at least once a day when I was working in the office. One of the few things I’ll miss about going full time remote!

Pact is the only place I can think of that does a really cheap intro offer.

Rave, Grumpy Mule and Union are all probably cheaper than what’s been posted here and are all pretty decent.

Might just start doing that on the days when I know I’m going to be having three coffees.

I think my coffee grinder is on the way out after a year in lockdown with three cups a day. What are they latest recommendations? Is everyone still in love with their Wilfa machines?

Don’t you dare buy anything else

Yes

What’s the difference between this one

and this one

other than the colour and £26 price difference?
