Coheed and Cambria 2025

The best band with the worst artwork in the game are back with their 10th album! New single is great bar the weird Donald Duck guitar sound at the beginning.

Was somewhat surprised to see they don’t have their own thread and I can only assume that’s because no-one on here has heard of them. It can’t be because you all don’t like them, no sirreee

This is good news. Love a bit of Coheed, personally, in fact they’re the band I’ve seen the most times live.

reliably good live band, ageing like a fine wine.

My hot take is that their last album might well be my favourite of theirs.

Don’t think that’s too hot! I hate the production but the songs are top notch

Haven’t really vibed with the last two albums, but will have to give them a go again.

Still have major nostalgia for Keeping Secrets and Good Apollo Vol 1.

This is very much in keeping with the last two albums (which IIRC are parts 1 and 2 of a 5 part ‘saga’)

i love this band but I really could not care less about the ‘lore’

Think the last Coheed I listened to was in 2010. Not for me after the first 3, stellar albums.

I’ve got a terrible photo somewhere of me with Claudio in November 2003. It was the only time I saw them, which turned out to be an unannounced solo acoustic show due to the rest of the band having some sort of logistics problems after the previous night’s gig a few hours away.

Album 4, Year of the black rainbow, is famously terrible and not for nothing half the band left after it came out and they never play anything from it. A blemish!

This thread has had me on a real Coheed spree at the moment. Forgot just how good the first three albums are, all so engrained in my brain.

Have begun listening to the Vaxis albums too, enjoying them too as very maximalist silly prog rock albums, really enjoyable.

Yeah i feel like they had a real creative resurgence with the Afterman set, when Josh rejoined the band. His drumming is such a huge part of their sound, which I appreciate even more now following his Drumeo appearances.

But the Vaxis records are a real treat in that they’re trying new things and actually pushing themselves creatively. With mixed results, sure, but coheed and thrice using their second acts to actually evolve has been a lot of fun vs many of the other bands of that era who essentially release the same album every 2-3 years

Ahh yeah the After man albums are great, a bit patchy but generally a solid double album. Remember this song coming out and being so pumped. They were great on that tour too.

Also really love this one as just pure emo-ass pop, it’s a really nice end to the albums.

This is my go-to from those albums. When this band groove, they GROOVE

Welcome… it’s here

If I see this sort of thing on a Coheed tracklist I know I’m probably going to enjoy it. Waiting for tonight to have a good headphone listen. Been really caning Searching for Tomorrow the last few weeks so really excited.

yep yep, and not only that but it’s riddled with melodic callbacks to previous albums too. it’s fucking great.

I’m still a bit skeptical about how hard they’ve leaned into what is essentially metalcore production (c.f. Zakk Cervini on the mixing desk) but the songs are undeniable

Been listening for a few days and yeah this is great, love the little motifs from The Afterman songs that creep in throughout the album. Tethered Together currently my favourite, but it’s a really good album.

Love that Fuel for the Feeding End is in the set list.

such a great live band. haven’t seen them since 2019 which is bonkers since they’re probably in my top 5 most-seen
