I reckon you could get a single 7/10 or even 8/10 album out of all the music they’ve released through out their career.

Well yeah, there are worse bands/artists but that doesn’t mean I let Coldplay and Travis off.

The issue here is about recognition, really. They’re no worse than Sleeper but Sleeper had the decency to be received at the level they deserved. It’s the superstardom of both bands that sticks in my craw.

I guess I don’t have any Travis songs I like but there are a bunch of nice Coldplay songs and both bands seem like sickeningly nice, reasonable people. It’s not hatred just despair at something so workmanlike raised to high. At least with a band like Oasis they were genuinely exciting people to see on TV etc. They had a quality that had stardom about it.

Jeff Buckley was utter shite m9.

I see what you mean but this is also mad.

Supermarket rock. Chris Martin sounds like a trapped boy when he sings

I think their glowing wristband thing was genuinely quite innovative and will probably be remembered more than most of their music.

Find Chris Martin quite likeable tbh

Early on they had a myriad of delights. Trouble, Yellow, The scientist, clocks, don’t panic, shiver, god put a smile on your face, green eyes…

Think I saw them at Glasto that year and they were amazing.

This is now the (new) Idlewild thread.

Imagine sitting down in front of Spotify, with access to more recorded music than you could ever listen to in your entire lifetime, this galaxy of possibilities, and choosing to put on Coldplay.
