Got a favourite DMST album? You, You’re a History in Rust is the one for me
Both Dalmak and Lost Voices are worth checking out imho. Maybe Mechanics of Dominion is too, but I’ve not heard it so I can’t comment. Good band
- Erika Angell
- Sofa
- Silver Mt Zion
- Do Make Say Think
- Matana Roberts
probably go for hangedup as my fave that isn’t gybe/asmz, closely followed by that ol’ chestnutt.

Got into the last asmz album a bit more recently, has some quite good straight forward rocky moments
Personal favourites.

Other Truths for me.
Trigger warning for drug experiences here.
Once came up on ecstasy to the first track from this album and it’s up there with the best musical experiences I’ve ever had.

Yeah Kicker in Tow by Hangedup is really good
That’s my favourite too
Ampgrave is really good in parts. Banger of an intro
@safebruv reminded me in the other thread, their sampler/compilations were so good
Love Song of the Silent Land, so many gems on there.
Especially
And
And the blue foiled cover is so pretty
The film Empires of Tin (put out on DVD by Constellation) is worth a look for fans of CST-era Vic Chesnutt: the music has pretty much the same performers and sound, and clips of their performance are interspersed with the rest of the footage:
edit: very incorrect video link
I feel like Do Make Say Think on the …History In Rust tour and ASMZ on the Thirteen Moons tour are two of the most life affirming live music experiences I’ve had
Also recall my first few listens of Ought’s Today More Than Any Other Day inducing a sort of semi ecstatic state, when he’s going ‘today! together! today! together! we’re all the fucking same’ at the end ![]()
Oh wait actually the last black ox orchestra album is my favourite CST release

Winter Hymn followed by &yet followed by Goodbye… for me!
Not into the post rock side but the jazz stuff is generally great, and I remember liking those first couple Evangelista records.
La Lechuza by Esmerine is probably my favourite record Constellation have put out, really beautiful in a foggy, Wintry sort of fashion and then Little Streams Make Big Rivers builds up a head of steam and kicks my arse.
One of the best outcomes of buying a record for the artwork I’ve had is Prince Of Truth by Evangelista, I really dig the boldness of both
I love this, it’s so warming when the brass starts swelling up
