actually I just want to ask questions about cooking, please feel free to ignore if you think I’m a prick.
how do I make it so stuff doesn’t stick to the saucepan? Do I need to put butter/margerine in there? is that what it’s for?
Sunflower or veg oil is usually more suitable than butter, which will burn if it gets too hot
won’t that make stuff taste oily?
Yes basically. Although more often some form of oil is better. At least initially, later when cooking you can add some liquid (i.e. water) to stop something sticking.
I just want to cook my quinoa right
Not really, it’s pretty neutral in flavour
Do you have non-stick pans?
I guess not?
Vegetable oil and similar are quite neutral in flavour as long as you don’t overdo it. Sometimes will want add oils that impart some flavour though, such as olive oil.
can you put water in as well? Like to cook my quinoa?
I don’t really know how to cook quinoa tbh, I’d just read the instructions on the packet, or look at a youtube video
water and oil together is not normally a good idea because the hot oil will vapourise the water suddenly and you’ll get spitting
it says just put it in water innit but then when I did that a bunch got burnt and I had to scrape it off the saucepan, very annoying
“stir frequently”
Also keep the heat down
Bam can we ask you cooking questions? If so, what is your favorite foodstuff to slice/chop?
yeah? will that make a difference? It didn’t say to stir on the packet so I just left it
won’t hurt
I like to chop cucumber because it smells nice and is easy and tidy.
My least favourite it tomatos, I like to quarter them but then the pips and juice get on the chopping board, very annoying!
That said a dash of oil in a big pan of water can help to stop things sticking together. Pasta is the obvious example there.
For some grains you could try tossing them in a bit of oil to coat them before you cook them and that can have a similar effect.
