Are you cooking with gas or cooking with electric?
gas baby!
(sorry if that was too familiar)
Yeah ^this - you’re just gently simmering the quinoa til the water absorbs.
I had it as low as it would go, the gas is a little fiddly
I’d love to learn how to cook properly one day
Smallest hob, presumably?
People always moan about electric hobs as they’re much less responsive but tbh I find even v low gas flames too hot for some pans.
yeah little baby hob tries its best, bless it
maybe I needed more water but I really liked the consistently of the quinoa when it was done, just wish 1/4 of it wasn’t stuck to the pan
stir stir stir stir stir stir
I’d just turn it right down once it’s boiled and put a lid on it and stir it a bit and hopefully it’ll not burn. Can even take it off the heat entirely
what type of cook are you?
- experiment and cook lots of interesting dishes
- cook one thing well and eat it every day forever
oh yeah forgot you can take stuff off and it’ll still cook a bit, good shout thanks
next week I’m going to learn how to buy and eat red onion
Did you make 1 portion of quinoa or several?
Generally with things that cook by absorption (like rice where the idea is that you put in the right amount of water for it to soak up, not like pasta where you give it loads of water and then drain it at the end), if you cook only one portion it’ll dry out too easily because there’s too much surface area compared to the depth of stuff in the pan. If you cook 2-4 portions it’ll be less likely to dry out and stick to the pan. Then you can put the leftovers in the fridge soon after cooking and eat them within 2-3 days.
Throw it in some fluffy egg. Yowzah!
reckon it’s time @Bamnan got a rice cooker
also bam this will really blow your mind - cook the quinoa in stock instead of water.
flavourful.
You can use water basically as way to control the temperature and to loosen up dishes. Normally, at the stage when you are past ‘frying’, so it won’t cause issues with spitting due to hot oil/fat…
