Banger
Gangsters paradise was the first single I ever bought. RIP
RIP… i was just typing up to start a thread and singles poll, I’ll post here:
he was as big as anyone in the mid 90s. ganstas paradise is one of like ~5 rap songs that every single person on earth can recite word for word. that song made him but also probably ruined any shot he had at a normal career arc. imo his career is pretty underrated now compared to his los angeles/ west coast contemporaries, probably one step below the big hitters but still super solid. never really had that landmark album that stood out and has stayed on year end lists so his star has fallen pretty considerably. but the singles… just classic after classic, i loved them all as a teen.
Choose up to three:
- County Line ('93)
- I Remember ('94)
- Fantastic Voyage ('94)
- Mama, I’m in Love wit a Gangsta ('94)
- Gangsta’s Paradise ('95)
- Too Hot ('95)
- 1, 2, 3, 4 (Sumpin’ New) ('96)
- It’s All the Way Live (Now) ('96)
- Hit 'em High (the Monstars Anthem) ('97)
- The Winner ('97)
- C U When U Get There ('97)
- Ooh La La ('97)

Damn, was thinking just the other day Gangstas Paradise would be on my anti-p4k songs of the 90s list. Huge tune.
his work with wc and the maad circle was really great
watching all these old videos these were a big part of my life for a spell
And of course
Ah shit. Monstars Anthem is still one of the greatest crew joints of all time. RIP.
Ffs.
Lived 35 years more than he thought he would.
RIP
GP is a great album imo. Really solid tracklist and some amusing skits. Listened to it so much as a kid.
One of the best ever Big Brother contestants
RIP you mad bastard
RIP
Is this just in some British student house? What is the back story of this?!
"My house mates and I acoustic jamming sesh of ‘Gangster’s Paradise’ with the one and only Coolio. After making a guest appearance at a local club in Preston UCLAN, we got him back the next day to cook us a 3 course meal and share stories of his life and have a laugh! One of the most bizarre, surreal nights of my life. Not many people can say they’ve had dinner, been to Tesco supermarket and sang ‘Gangster’s Paradise’ with Coolio.
"
Lovely stuff
