I’m not saying it’s a chemical addiction like dickhead caffeine fiends, just a habitual thing that a lot of people take quite seriously.

You grind your own beans yeah?

Only the Heinz ones ha. Seriously get out of my cafe.

Understood.

Brexit wankers, mainly.

well yeah, again here is some highly reliable cartoon journalism of the famous McDonald’s case, the coffee was served way hotter than most places and they were found to be at fault so pressumably it is the same thing here, it’s not like it takes long for boiling water to cool considerably.

A quick Google says 5 seconds exposure to water at 60C can cause 3rd degree burns.

I’ve tried giving up (caffeinated) tea before and ended up getting the most horrendous caffeine withdrawal headaches. I think this is a fairly common thing.

And practically instantly at boiling, 5 seconds is quite a long time where damage can be reduced

And a long Google?

Looking at the cartoon @ttf posted the McD’s coffee was considered too hot at 180F, which is ‘only’ about 82C.

However the point was that the coffee soaked Stella Liebeck’s trousers, which were synthetic material it seems, and superheated them, resulting in her being exposed to that heat for a prolonged period.

If you spill boiling water on your skin (hand say) it does burn and it’s painful but it either runs off or you shake it off quickly.

So from the looks of this case, it’s got into her trousers or maybe her tights, resulting in a vicious burn.

Not sure what to say about it, mind you. Driving with hot drinks is definitely pretty dangerous.

Still think other people’s tea/coffee shouldn’t be served too hot

BUT YOU HAVE NO FRAME OF REFERENCE AS TO WHAT TOO HOT IS!
