Country Pub Recommendations in Surrey Area: For A Meal & Dog-Friendly and preferably characterful

Looking for a nice country pub in Surrey area which has a good menu and accepts dogs. There’ll be 8 of us and a dog.

Normally we’d go to The Royal Standard in Beaconsfield which we all love but is a bit far so trying to find something similar in Surrey which I appreciate may not be easy as TRS is really very nice indeed.

I say Surrey as parties will be travelling from Bracknell and Streatham so somewhere not too hard to reach from these is preferable.

Ideas Welcome, thanks

Meant to post in Travel section

Might be a bit too far East but…

Botley Hill Farmhouse.

Stunning place, good food, beers and views. Dog friendly. But not near a train station.

The Harrow, Caterham. Again dog friendly, country walks, nice food, views etc and dog friendly.

Bit of a walk from Caterham Station, initially up hill, but doable.

Ignore Botley Hill, noticed it’s closed until December.

You sure get about, mate.

Not Surrey so maybe too far but Boars Head in Horsham

(Not been since before Covid so kitchen and menu might have changed, but used to be good and always has been dog friendly)

I used to love the sportsman in mogador but it’s been many many years since I went there so I don’t know what it’s like now

Cherry Tree in Copthorne is ace. Dunno if it takes dogs but it’s a v good place.

The Mill Haslemere could be a shout. Used to go as a kid. I’ve not been there for 40 years but it might still be nice. There are some small ponds nearby and Marleycombe woods are great. Not exactly deep in the country though.

Haslemere is accessible from Clapham Junction for the Streatham contingent (if they’re not driving). There’s the Devils Punchbowl not too far away which is great dog walking territory too

Or blackdown

Cheers everyone, appreciate all the reco’s.

The Dolphin in Betchworth is on the list of potentials if anyone has been there?

That’s right by my office - it was great for a sunny pint. Last time I went they’d massively pivoted to food, and there was literally no space to go for a quite pint. The OP did want food though…

Office in Mogador?! We used to ride the horses to it across the heath and they’d sell us a pint of Guinness in a dog bowl for them to drink

Lower Kingswood, but it’s literally just the other side of the A217

Pretty close to a train station
