I think for me it was the toning down of the idiosyncrasies in her vocal delivery? She sounds so unique on those early EPs and that first album and imo that’s just been missing since then.
Still some nice songs on them though.

Also just reminds me of someone posting “how are we doing with our Courtney Barnett impressions?” on their Instagram stories just after the first album came out and it’s one of those things that was super on point and still makes me laugh whenever I think about it.

I really like artists who are clearly influenced by/sound like her, without actually liking her stuff that much anymore

New album is fun. I enjoyed the more muted energy of the last one but it’s nice that she sounds a bit happier again on this

I’m into the playing and some of the grooves but the songwriting definitely feels more in the mould of her last album than the first two, which isn’t my favourite. I’m gutted I’m not able to see her on the current tour, she’s great live.
I’m hoping she might announce some winter dates. Could do a rock city show
