Nope. It’s someone of the same generation as you, who your closest common relative is your great grandparent.

I believe your cousin’s child would be your first cousin once removed

I think the black sheep is me. Both sides of the family are very close to each other and never really moved away from their birth families and see each other regularly. I do the opposite of those things

There’s one that I know about, Linda (daughter of my mum’s sister) whose daughter Tina married my brother. FFS. Then there are a couple in Australia via my dad’s sister who moved there in the seventies and who I know nothing about. My family have never been particularly close. Until my brother and second cousin got together. I’m well out of it. The probably think I’m aloof. But, really, I have no interest in knowing them.

so my granny’s sister’s grandkids? is that right?

Fucking loads. 20+. Haven’t met most of them.

Few of them are legends though. Even went to an ATP with one once. Don’t know how many bands he saw - seemed to spend the entire time taking some kind of methadone extract and banging. Bloke must’ve been 45 at the time. Fair play.

I have 8 cousins and grew up seeing most of them every weekend (we’d get together every Sunday). Don’t see them as often as that now what with everyone having their own families (and 3 of them now living in Australia) but still get on well with them when I do see them.

Are any of your mum’s cousins called Duvitch, by any chance?

Nailed it

At wedding a few years ago I found out that a few of my cousins were at the nirvana gig in Belfast and hung around city hospital to see if they could get a glimpse of kurt (cobain). I didn’t realise they were into stuff like that and had so much time on their hands.

Not sure I have any left cause they were all old on my dad’s side. Their kids are ok we used to spend Christmas together but I’ve not seen them in years. They had sky tv when we were little which was amazing. Used to watch the Stan video a lot and play duke nukem.
One might live in Dubai now cause his dad lives there photographing rich people. one lives on boats in Cornwall. Lives quite a specifically Cornish type of life that I envy but it involves too many raves.

Haven’t had sex with any of them.

How many do you have? Four. Not seen two of them for 20 years :frowning:

Who’s ya favourite? By default the only one that I’ve seen in the past 5 years, so my super academic and super socially awkward eternal student US cousin. She’s on her second masters at one of the top Ivy League universities as he has nowhere near enough social skills for ‘the real world’ so will probably in education for the rest of time. She’s a good kid though,

Who’s the black sheep? My other US cousin. Has been banged up over there for various drink/drug/DUI offences that culminated in a hilarious (?) hit and run incident where he drove into a cop car. Recently become a father as a result of a one night stand and seems to be trying to sort himself out. Still living in a halfway house however.

Are you type that is friends with your cousins or the type that might see them once a decade at gatherings? As above, almost never see any of them. The two that I’ve not seen for 20 years is a shame as we used to be super close growing up. They were similar in age to me and my oldest sister and we all got on really well. For some reason which I still don’t fully understand, my uncle had some freak out 20 years ago and completely disowned his entire family leading to us all losing touch.

Banged any of em? Banged - no. A bit of youthful exploration - err, I’m going to take the 5th on that one…

My actual cousin, their mum, was amazing though. Think she went bankrupt a load of times and lived in big houses she couldn’t afford while drinking loads of wine. Probably the most fun lady I’ve known. She smoked those pre made tabs and i love the smell cause of her. She moved to Tenerife and pretty much partied so much and then died one day out of the blue. Good good lady.

Actually whoops I just remembered that none of that side of the family are related to me by blood anymore. I always forget that.

One on my dads side. I no longer have anything to do with him, absolute selfish, racist, tory prick. I don’t have anything to do with my dad’s side of the family. Nor does my dad, which is sad. My dad is the complete opposite as a person and morals to the rest of his family.

Loads on my mum’s side. My mum is one of eight children. I hardly see them though as they are up in Middlesbrough. I think it’s around 20.

Pretty close with three cousins from one aunt, although one passed away a few years ago with a brain tumour. I should go up there more often.

I have 11 cousins, 6 on my dad’s side and 5 on my mum’s.

My cousin’s John and Michelle who are siblings are my favourites. Took me to loads of “big” gigs and festivals in my teens. I last saw them a couple of months ago but sadly since my aunt (their mum) died a few years back their relationship has deteriorated. It’s really sad but I hope they can reconcile one day.

It’s me for sure as the black sheep, my family see me as a (lovable) weirdo who makes music and despite being 32 has no kids or mortgage or partner. I’m fine with that though they’re still super supportive.

Other than the ones I mentioned above I rarely see the others, and if I did I don’t think we would be that close as our tastes and interests are so different. We all love getting smashed at Christmas though so that’s something I guess.

struggling with the maths here with the 99/100+ cousins - each parent has shitloads of siblings who all had shitloads of kids?

Have no cousins. This is not thread for me

Are you my cousin?
