Credit where credit is due

I just noticed this story on the BBC news.
It looks like “the industry” may have picked at the income of writers to the point where they’ve got little to lose and are saying enough.

They aren’t naming any names at this point, and you wonder how much some artists will be aware of what’s in their own contracts once lawyers and agents have been involved, but it’ll be interesting to see where support comes from, if any does.

I had no idea that this was a common practice, it seems very unfair to the songwriters in terms of cash and the industry recognition that I imagine comes with writing a hitm

Writing a great pop song for one of these artists is skillful work imo, but I wouldn’t hold out hope this will get fixed
