Donāt know if this is the right thread for this, butā¦
Anybody heard of the dunkelfeld project?
Translates (I think) as ādark fieldā from Germanā¦Basically itās an anonymous community for those who have sexual preferences for pubescent (hebophilia) and pre-pubescent (paedophilia) children. Takes the form of a one-year treatment program aimed at reducing incidence of both actual sexual abuse and the use of illegal pornographic material (one of the groups principals is abstinance from child pornography). Research into the effects is only a few years old, so there isnāt any reliable supportive evidence yetā¦but itās interesting to look at boundaries in this country.
Stopitnow (http://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/stopso-crisis-campaign/) is perhaps the main parallel in the U.K. but, as you can see by it requiring a crowdfunding page, the funding for it does not cover the 2000+ calls received on a monthly basis. Nor does it have any sustainable access to therapeutic or pharmacological interventions. The problem is that public support for this kind of thing would be minimalā¦the discourse around child sex offending is still dominated by angerā¦and any expression of inappropriate desire would be treated criminally from the offset.
I think we need a change in attitudeā¦
