Never heard them called that before.
Get one of those big pots of crispy shallots/red onions from a Chinese/asian supermarket. Frying them yourself is not worth the hassle.
Love them too. Hadn’t really paid much attention until we went to Copenhagen where they put them on everything. The Danish know their shit.
You can buy them in Ikea. Crispy onions on everything!
