it’s my favourite album of theirs.

I feel like that contradicts your claim that it’s for the sake of diversity. Unless you’re saying they need to reach a more diverse audience in order to survive financially?
In which case, you’re back to calling into question the worth of the art itself and the integrity of these sites for including it, and it’s hard to see why you’re doing that apart from because it’s a genre of music and aesthetic predominantly created by women.
And in which case it’s still not for the sake of diversity, it’s using that as a tool and is for the sake of money. So you’ve still provided no supporting evidence.

I’d give my usual answer disagreeing with the critical opinion that Ravedeath is Timmy Hecker’s best rather than his weakest, but I’m really phoning it in after so many discussions on the topic

That’s actually something we can agree on (Tim Hecker)

There’s a lot of mileage in the diversity dollar these days. That’s what I’m saying.

“The diversity dollar”.

I’m calling bullshit on that.

Is that the prevailing view? An Imaginary Country for me. If he ever makes another track half as good as Sea of Pulses… Well, I’ll be quite happy because it would be a very good track indeed.

I feel like it is. A lot of sites latched onto it as his ‘breakout’ record at the time and it managed to draw in folks who weren’t drone afficionados (which is a good thing!), and a lot of folks here laud it as his finest.
AIC is wonderful.

Hurrah! I’m not alone, it would seem. I just remember the vitriol about it at the time being really intense. And then every time it came up in conversation, it always seemed to be a common opinion about what a disaster it was. And I was just in my metaphorical corner humming ‘The Rest Will Folllow’ and ‘Caterwaul’ to myself over and over again.

Glad i’m not the only one.

First three tracks are belters, then goes off the boil. If they’d made Gen Ten a single album and used some of the leftovers on GATS, they would be two stunning albums.

The first album of theirs I really got into that, still love it. Caterwaul, Let it Dive, Worlds Apart (ignoring bad lyrics) - great stuff.

I also really like the Lost Songs album.

7.6? Nah.

  1. You’re right
  2. Technically we’re looking for a ‘swathe’
  3. Imagine getting this irked by a record you don’t like being awarded all of 7.6/10
  4. This sounds right up my street. Frist track is sounding looovely at 2 minutes in - it feels really ‘feminine’, y’know. Like the gender of the artist is important and is really coming through in the, erm, synths.

She’s got symmetrical hair in the album cover as well. Dunno what to believe any more.

Two tracks in now. This is sounding stellar! Would appreciate it if you would list some more albums you hate so I can check 'em out.

PS sorry @Gert

It’s a whole 0.2. extra on top of when she was identifying as a man! Scandalous favoritism for women/transgender people!
