Perfect - thank you. I will add you on strava if I can’t access them, then try to port them across to my ridewithgps and have a ponder!

In de Vrede is on my list as we were planning on staying at the B&B attached to St Bernardus Brewery which is about 5 miles down the road.

Definitely like the sound of staying in a second brewery as well!

Right will have to ponder how I can incorporate Limburg area as well as Gent, and get back to Lille in time for the Tour! Whilst doing relatively low-mileage days.

You can search my routes here btw: https://ridewithgps.com/users/431302/routes

The ones beginning E1 (and so on) are the routes we used!

Ah perfect - even easier. In the spirit of cooperation, I have about 3 million routes here I’ve made or stolen over the years:https://ridewithgps.com/users/255681/routes

Absolutely not!

I bought an expensive thule one to get my bike from France to Ireland, went for the one that clamps on the fork as it was like 12 hours driving at 90mph and I was terrified of carbon cracking.

It didn’t, bike was fine so if it can cope with that it’ll cope with anything I reckon

Also roof vs rear mounts - roof racks will take heavier mtbs easier and more securely than strap mounted on the rear, reckon I’d want a proper towbar rack to move a big dh bike on the back

Christ this is dull even for bw chat

yes but

is it?

Bought a winter cycling jacket from AliExpress because I’m tight and Rapha gear is expensive. Really impressed. £20 delivered and they threw in a free reflective gilet too!

Bit concerned about the morals of it but there’s no ethical consumption under capitalism so fuck it.

I hope it lasts but durability is usually a concern. I ordered some jerseys off there and they were just very poorly constructed.

What ‘brand’ were yours? Only had this for a month or two but seems like decent quality based on my limited experience (I only have a Rapha casquette because I’m tight)

Dunno. It was a few years ago. Just think it’s a bit of a crap shoot with clothing. I buy bits from there (bottle cages, camera mounts) but wouldn’t buy clothes cause I don’t trust them to actually last or do their job.

A £60 winter jacket from a UK brand will probably last at least three times as long as most ones from Ali Express. Or that’s been my experience with those jerseys.

Out of the cycle thread irresponsible car wanker :rage:

oh don’t worry i am much more reckless when saddled up on a bike than when behind the wheel

Be interested to hear how it holds up. Seen quite a few folk on LFGSS saying the Rapha clones are pretty good.

bike cleaning routine plz guys

(yea i’m bored)

outside, on bike stand, blue gloves on
bucket of water + fairy liquid + sponge
remove wheels
spray cassette and chain with morgan blue
scrub everywhere apart from cassette and chain with sponge + soapy water
after 5 minutes, scrub chain and cassette
put everything back together
rinse off with hose
leave to dry
lube
baby wipe anything i’ve missed
fin

basically this but in the shower instead of outside

and i don’t bother taking the wheels off unless it’s a BIG clean not a routine one

have tried 100% baby wipe clean too. surprisingly good.

only really ever have big cleans these days tbh

Leave out in the rain
fin…

smh

If I’m doing a proper clean then pretty similar to you - except I use Fenwicks spray. And use it in the water for frame scrubbing too (washing up liquid has loads of salt in it so in theory could cause rust if its not all rinsed off).

I’ve never used a baby wipe on a bike before though

I have a hose pipe I can use which makes a big difference - plus a mini jetwash thing which is awesome for cleaning muddy mountain bikes

I don’t take the wheels off, but basically this.

I have one of those muc-off 8-in-1 kits which seems to have everything I need.

I never jet wash it, as that screws up the bearings.

I aim to follow this chart, but fail:
